You Think Your Holiday Was Rough...
Mood:  cool
Try flying home, having an ice storm hit, and being stuck in the house with no electricity, and the temperature drop below 20 degrees F. That was a long 40 hours. There are some people going on their 7th day with no power, so I should shut-up & thank my lucky stars.

I'll be home in 24 hours. Catch ya'll then.

I recommend Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and The Terminal. Both are good STUCK movies, and it'll make you feel better to seee other people stuck places. Not really the same as a freezing house, but....

Q,

Funny you should mention "stuck". My flight back was delayed 2 hours, then LAX was grounded & we had to land in Ontario(city outside L.A.). My 9:33 pm arrival turned into a 3am arrival. But I'll take sitting on the ground over flying through a tornado any day.

With everything going on in the world today, my little "adventures" aren't much to complain about. Now if I could just manage to get along with my sister when we're both back home...

Happy New Year!!!

i was stuck in an ice storm 3 years ago for 2 weeks. I learned i was not a survivor when it came to ice storms. I immediately bought a generator and never looked back. Just thinking abiut that happening to you gives me the willies.

Dr.C,

My mom has a generator(thank God)for summer storms that knock out her sump pump. 6 hours per tank full, without friends to find us gasoline(no power, no gas pumps), we'd have been S.O.L.

I made it almost 4 days in a 2003 ice storm, then I loaded up the cats & drove to mom's. It never got below 28F, but I had no gas kitchen appliances & no generator. Always keep your gas tank full when the weather gets iffy. That reminds me, I should rotate items in my car earthquake kit.

Watch out for ice in your neck of the woods.
