Silence = Death (trying to work that hammer)
From the Doctors Without Borders website:
"The outpouring of support for people in South Asia shows the kind of positive impact media coverage can have on efforts to bring relief to people in crisis," said Nicolas de Torrente, Executive Director of MSF-USA. "Why can't it extend to those trapped by wars or dying by the millions from a disease like TB? Silence is the best ally of atrocities, and this is the sixth straight year our list has included the plight of people in Colombia and the DRC."

I gave shares of a goat for Christmas. The upcoming Chinese New Year is the Year of the Chicken, so maybe I need to give some chicks for Valentine's Day.

Tonight's specials: a"Doctor" cocktail, and Safe Sex of the Beach for Nessa & other "health conscious" patrons.

As for movie night, I'm in a fun mood. So tonight's flicks will be Goldfinger(1964) and On Her Majesty's Secret Service(1969).

10 Days 'Til Elections in Iraq
I hope our people in Iraq have been supplied with everything they need. I can't imagine a better use for the Bush tax cut money than making sure our troops are fully equipped.

And I wish somebody had told me not to waste my time on the lottery and that becoming a cop in Inglewood, CA was a great way to Hit the Jackpot.

Happy Presidential Inauguration Day everyone(= I need a drink).

Tonight's drink is a repeat, but how can I beat Waking with the Bush Pig

INGREDIENTS

* 1 part vodka
* 1/2 part dark rum
* 2 parts Amaretto Di Saronno?

Layer the ingredients in a shot glass in the order of vodka, amaretto and then the rum. Set drink alight with a match, shoot back with the drink still ablaze.

I Can't Believe I'm Agreeing With Pat Buchanan!
I've been watching The McLaughlin Group for over 20years, and in the beginning I never thought I'd be agreeing with Mr. Patrick Buchanan whole heartedly.

The following is a quote from John McLaughlin's 2004 year end show:
MR. MCLAUGHLIN: Macro prediction, Pat.

MR. BUCHANAN: John, I believe that by the end of 2005, George Bush will be in the low 40s. I think his administration will be afflicted with scandals. I think their deep divisions inside the Republican Party will have surfaced. And I think we will have ourselves a hellish situation that will divide the country on Iraq. It's not good news, but I sense it is coming.

http://www.mclaughlin.com/library/transcript.asp?id=447

And today I heard about "plans" for U.S. Death Squads in Iraq

Forget about teflon, we've got the Flubber President. What's it gonna take?

Boy could I use a drink.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Now Playing: Looking for a 2005 theme song
Which should it be, realistic and hopeful, or realistic and pessimistic?

U2's Beautiful Day
The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There's no room
No space to rent in this town

You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere

You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace

It's a beautiful day
Sky falls you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination

You love this town
Even if that doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you

It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Teach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See china right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out

It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
Beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

What you don't have you don't need it now
What you don't know you can feel it somehow
What you don't have you don't need it now
Don't need it now
Was a beautiful day

CCR's Bad Moon Rising
I see a bad moon a-rising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earth quakes and lightnin'.
I see bad times today.

Don't go 'round tonight
it's bound and take your life,
there's a bad moon on the rise.

I hear hurricanes a-blowing,
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

Don't go 'round tonight
it's bound and take your life,
there's a bad moon on the rise.

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quit prepared to die.
Look's like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

Don't go 'round tonight
it's bound and take your life,
there's a bad moon on the rise.

Maybe I'll follow in the footsteps of Minnesota Public Radio's "Marketplace", and play whichever song fits the day's events.

I found out today that I have to "work" tomorrow-PISS!!!! So no late night for me.

Remember, eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we fight the good fight another day.

From everyone here at The Nut House, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

You Think Your Holiday Was Rough...
Mood:  cool
Try flying home, having an ice storm hit, and being stuck in the house with no electricity, and the temperature drop below 20 degrees F. That was a long 40 hours. There are some people going on their 7th day with no power, so I should shut-up & thank my lucky stars.

I'll be home in 24 hours. Catch ya'll then.
