Blue Moon
Mood:  blue
Now Playing: What do you think?
It's a slow night at The Nut House, so we're all out back checking out the Blue Moon.

35 years and 11 days ago Apollo 11 landed the 1st man on the moon. It's been nearly 32 years since the last human landed, and then left the moon on Apollo 17. Here are a few of his words.

"I took one last unfiltered look at the Earth and was enveloped by a sense of selfishness, for I was unable to adequately share what I felt. I wanted everyone on my home planet to experience this magnificent feeling of actually being on the moon. That was not technologically possible, and I knew it, but there was a bit of guilt at being the Chosen One. I put a foot on the pad and grabbed the ladder. I knew that I had changed in the past three days, and that I no longer belonged solely to the Earth. Forever more, I would belong to the universe."

Hey cool... I am a junky for all thing space related. I think in another life I was good at math and must have been an astronomer. I watch anything space related and love museams and books about it! I saw a rocket launch this year at the cape. Wow what a rush.. I can't wait for the Shuttle to go up again!

Last year I finally got to visit Kennedy Space Center with my sons. I had waited a long time for that opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed it. Several years back, I got to see Discovery lift off after the Challenger disaster. That is a wonderful passage that you posted by Eugene Cernan. For what he experienced is one of the greatest feats of humankind.

Sad, is it not, that the global powers that be have not chosen to dedicate more resources to space exploration? While our personal destinies might lie not in the stars, but in ourselves, I have a different opinion regarding the future of humankind.

My Dad took us to see that when I was a teenager. I don't know if it still exists, but at the time they had the buildings in which the Apollo rockets were assembled, so big that thunderstorms could form inside of them. It was also interesting to my then 14 year old mind that the footage of the crash at the beginning of "The Six Million Dollar Man" was actual footage of one of the test space shuttle flights, long before they ever got a manned one into the air.

You know there are some people out there that will say the Apollo moon mission never happened...

Hell REM even wrote a song about it, a little tune used to exemplify the exploits of one Andy Kaufman...

Not that I would succum to such conspiracy theories...no, never, "I" watch the news....FOX news...

Chinquapin,

I have always been partial to "Bowser's" du-whopin' the bass to Blue Moon. And, following Col Mustard's comment on how some believe the moon landing never happened: The Apollo 11 consisted of three stages, however, there are some who believe that it had only consisted of ONE BIG DECEPTIVE STAGE! I have a chapter in my book: I Didn't Fly Over... I Landed In It, that touches a little on that point. The chapter is called: Lunar Madness, or Leaping Lunatics?
The book can be viewed at Search Inside The Book: Amazon. com or iuniverse.com
Maybe sometime you can take a look-see, if you have the time.

Thanks,
Wally Edmond

Sorry folks,

Mr. Man crashed the computer. We lost our bookmarks & cookies, and I can't remember my password.

While I'm working on the situation, FYI- the next International Drinking Holiday is Queen Sirikit's (of Thailand)Birthday, August 12th. Col. Mustard, if only I'd known where you were off to, I'd have asked you to pick me up a little something.

Queen Sirikit's birthday is also Thailand's Mother's Day. If the two are speaking, give your mom a call.

OK, I'll let you know one of my script ideas, because it was turned down. And no one will ever see it as far as I know.

This woman (who doesn't believe in reincarnation) is reincarnated and instead of going forward in time, goes backwards in time. As a muse to Mozart, she gives him musical ideas from "Aerosmith" to "Tom Petty."

Ok, one of my more stupid ideas and no one liked it. But I thought I might let you know about it at least.
