Opening for St. Patrick...
Funny that the "party saint days" occur in the middle of lent.

March 16 is St. Urho's Day. Don't forget to wear green and purple.

March 16 is also the feast day of St.Finian, a man not a flashy as Patrick, but well worth remembering for his deeds.

Specials are:
Tipperary Cocktails &
Grasshoppers
(is it crude to have a
Virgin Mary for the virgin cocktail?)

I Guess This Is Why Barbie Doesn't Have Nipples
Who knew nipples were such a threat. All mammals have them, male and female.

I worked at a movie studio in the mid-nineties that had the nipples on a statue digitally removed for a TV commercial. That's the MPAA for ya. But now, what the hell's wrong with PBS(& some of their affiliates)? No wonder I haven't seen Sister Wendy lately. What will the FCC do about her description of "fluffy pubic hair" in a painting?

I don't have cable. I don't want to pay for cable. I WANT MY FREE TV(which I do pay for)... with nipples on classical sculptures damnit!

Rant over.

The U.S. Givith, The U.S. Taketh Away Sovereignty?
Could it be "we're" oversteping?
(Story at www.cbc.ca from Feb. 25,2005)

Is the administration pissed that Canada has Queen Elizabeth II on their money? Do they have a problem with Parliamentary governments? So much for mending fences.

Time to take a break from the serious & watch the Oscar preshow.

If You Remember The 60s...
Bla, bla, bla. I remember half of the 60s, which is pretty good considering I was in utero a good chunk of 1963.

I don't remember as much as this Little Peanut, and I don't know if that's a good, or a bad thing. I remember Apollo launches, Mr. Rogers going national, Flower Power, and two of the four political assassinations of that decade. What the Hell was wrong with us?

Two brothers, and two brothers in arms.

Where are our leaders today? I am not a leader, but a movement full of leaders seems unable to progress in a single direction. I am a follower, a supporter. I can be a cheerleader, an organizer. I am waiting for a leader, and I am not easily fooled by pretenders.

The freekin' Age of Aquarius doesn't really start for another 595 years. Will the Year of the Rooster wake "us" up from the drooling sleep of the Year of the Monkey?

In remembrance:

"America... just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable."
Hunter S. Thompson

"You're not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong no matter who does it or who says it."
Malcom X

Happy Presidents' Day.

(looped) Help Us Howard Dean, You're Our Only Hope...
Has anyone else started hearing "Darth Vader's theme" in their head when watching any member of the Bush administration on TV?

If John McCain can turn the Republicans from the neocon dark side, we might make it to 2008 without sight of the four horsemen.

And if Dean will work with Johnny Reid Edwards(he should use his birth name)and Barack Obama, together they can defeat the empire, "Return of the Liberal"!

I've read that repeated visualization can achieve miraculous results. If blowing up the Death Star(cancerous tumor) works, let's take it to the next level. The power of positive thinking, plus a lot of action. Time to fight the good fight people.

Not to push any one company(not like they need any help), we will be bringing in Starbucks' CHANTICOs for Soggy Sunday Afternoon High Tea today. Drinkable chocolate indeed.

Happy V.D.
Look, I'm back in sixth grade!

Happy St. Valentine's Day everyone. You think we can get the U.S. Defense Dept. to get back to work on the Love Bomb?

Please Pass The Ice Bag
What a party week... what a hangover.

One of these years I'm gonna have to go to Rio, but New Orleans was my favorite port of call last week.

I'm in a Tennessee Williams state of mind. So while we clear our heads of the last of the demon alcohol, The Nut House will have another special Sunday Edition of Double Feature Afternoon Tea(or espresso if you really need a kick).

First we'll have the color feature, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof(1958). I know, it takes place in Mississippi, but I love the whole "Mendacity" thing. My vote for the name historians will give this political era is "The Age of Mendacity"- hopefully we're at the late afternoon of this age.

Second feature, Suddenly Last Summer(1959), thank God we don't lobotomize people for witnessing atrocities, or we'd all be in big trouble.

The dress code has been altered to one-piece slips, striped PJ's, high-necked Edwardian getups, and white doctor coats(straight jackets allowed if you bring your own handler). And if you can carry it off, an all white(seersucker?)suit. No cannibals or "no neck monsters" allowed.

I almost forgot, if you need to bitch about your job, The Nut House has a new addition, HazelNut's Dog House. Hazel loves a good bitch session, and she won't rat you out to your boss. She's such a good girl, yes you are.

Looking forward to tea, and a bit of the hair of the dog.
