Ants, Computers and Red Carpets
Mood:  don't ask
Where shall I start?

The ant invasion continues. Every 2-3 days we have to move the cats' food because those boogers(what do you call basically sexless animals that don't have sex?) are coming through every outside wall.

Next, I finished my script and decided to print it up the next day... WRONG. The computer crashed while being turned on, and even though I'd saved the script on every drive & a floppy, Mr.Man couldn't find the softwear to load onto the "edit" computer. After 3 hellish hours(and a unnecessary new power supply), he did manage to put the hard drive into the "edit" computer and I got the script printed & my other submission elements out just before THAT computer died. It was comforting to see someone else at the post office with their envelope at 4:55pm Saturday afternoon(It had to have yesterday's postmark).

What's next... The Emmy's. The arrivals have begun, but because of the time delay for the west coast, I'll know who won what before the show starts out here. So of course, that puts the focus on who's wearing what. Mt.Annie & I will be paying special attention as we may be attending the 2006 Emmy's after one of us wins the Bravo contest(got to think positive).

So, that's what's going on, aside from my car getting a new transmission(OUCH)and prepping for Sunday Afternoon Tea. What cocktails should be on special tonight? What would be appropriate for the Emmy's?

Cosmos- in honor of the last of Sex And The City.
Irish Coffee- in honor of the last Friends.
A really fine Brandy- in honor of the last Frasier.

Let me know if any of you have an "Emmy" drink, and we'll make it a permanent part of the menu(if it's any good).

I will be drinking Smirnoff this evening - Raspberry is my flavor of choice tonight.

Glad to hear you got your submission in on time. Since they are unclear about when the first cut will be announced, keep my email on "speed dial" in case you hear anything and I will do likewise.

Cheers to you for your prediction of next year's Emmy!

Hey there, I'm up for the irish coffee any day. Even though the show jumped the shark a while back, it was still a great American past time. Will never be the same without it. Cheers to good friends. To you.

Good luck with the bravo thingy, although I must say I know nothing of it as I do not watch tv. Football is NOT tv, I repeat NOT tv. It is a spectator SPORT.

You gotta eat, drink, yell, scream, punch out your buddy who doesn't like your team, jump out of your seat when you score and those twelve and 16 ounce curls sure do wear you out...

Hej, Chinq!

My vote is for an nice Irish Coffee, too - not only in honor of the last FRIENDS, but because it's getting a bit cooler here on the East Coast.

Sorry about all your troubles, but glad you managed to get your submission in on time. My blood pressure would have been shooting through the roof.

Glad to see you're back!
I.

Actually most ants are FEMALE! No wonder everyone despises them so much. Ants (or even aunts) can be very obnoxious indeed. Here's the general breakdown FYI:

4.4 [1999.09.22] ARE ALL ANTS FEMALE?

Yes, if you are talking about the worker ants. Here's a simple chart, by AntCamMan, to determinate each ant's gender in any colony:

workers = female
wingless queen = female (after mating)
winged queen = princess = female (haven't mated or just recently mated before removing her wings)
winged male/drone/prince = male (generally very small in most species)
soldiers (in some species) = female (very big ants with strong mandibles and head only for protection of the colony and fighting against other colonies)

Nessa,

Order whatever you'd like. I was going for "farewell" drinks, as in shows now off the air.

I just found out about the following "holiday" today, so tonight it's Martinis all 'round.

"Today(Sept. 17) is International Very Good Looking Damn Smart Woman's Day, so please send this message to someone you think fits this description. Please do not send it back to me as I have already received it from a Very Good
Looking Damn Smart Woman!

Good motto to live by:"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming
~ WOO HOO what a ride!"

SKR,

I know, just like bees. But I reserve "bitch" for the Queen, and "bastard" just didn't seem right. And even thought the workers don't have sex, I still call then f*@#ers when they swarm in my house.

They aren't despised because they are female, they are despised because they are so efficient. Well, maybe that's the same thing(Ha).

What are the odds that Atom Ant would be male?
